In the 1980s, Toyin Agbetu was one of the pioneers of UK street soul. The former programmer combined the hip-hop and electro sound of the time with the soul and pop of his parents' generation. Under different names, the Brit released an unmanageable number of projects. Soul Connection was the name of the joint group with friend and colleague Earl Myers. As a duo they released two albums. Six of the best songs from "Rough & Ready" (1988) and "Raw Street Soul" (1990) are now included in the best-of EP "Street Soul".
