The Italian hip-hop duo Articolo 31 has really shaken up the Italian music scene. Xché Si! from 1999 is intended to confirm the star status they have achieved. Unlike many European acts, American production elements do not play a role. Even if New York pioneer Kurtis Blow ennobles the Milanese on the title track, San Remo is closer than the Bronx. And yet it is independent hip hop that skilfully exploits the wealth of Italian music culture.
