TORCH Blauer Samt - Eine Monografie von Frederik Hahn
With his approach of merging rap, philosophy and literature, Heidelberg-born Frederik Hahn aka "Torch" continues to inspire people of different generations, social classes and cultural backgrounds. With the song "Fremd im eigenen Land" (1992) and its anti-discriminatory content, he and his band Advanced Chemistry drew international attention to racism in Europe. He is considered one of the most influential contemporary poets from Heidelberg, building a literary bridge to Heidelberg Romanticism with songs such as "Wunderschön" (Ode to Heidelberg) and "Ich hab geschrieben" ("progressive universal poetry"). With his solo album "Blauer Samt" (2000) he has had great success in the German-speaking world. For his 50th birthday, he is publishing his monograph on the album with, among other things, insights into its creation process, his hip-hop philosophy and explanations of the individual songs.
