The Beneficiaries are Jessica Care Moore, Jeff Mills and Eddie Fowlkes. The project began when Mills turned to one of the founders and legendary DJ/producers of Detroit techno, Eddie Fowlkes. Mills wanted to find a third person for the project, one who was from Detroit but wasn't a musician. Mills discovered the Detroit-born poetess Jessica Care Moore. Impressed by her words and the energy with which she was able to express them, Mills knew immediately that she was the perfect artist to turn to for this creative venture. And so this Detroit masterpiece was born.
