The exhibition Future/Memory, curated by SuperBlast (Berlin), gathers together works by top-class international artists rooted in and inspired by street culture. With their different artistic approaches the artists show us their view of society; the towns and streets they roam and inhabit. Objects lying discarded in the street are turned into sculptures.
Photographs use images of playing children from the Bronx. Graffiti is made into abstract art and painted icons are turned into a contemporary installation. The exhibition asks questions about our urban habitat, points out processes of transformation and opens up new ways of seeing our social and architectural surroundings. All the artists from the exhibition will be in Dresden during the festival. Most of the works will be created in situ, ranging from painting, photography, sculpture and installations to conceptual art.
Future/Memory translates graffiti, street culture and urban art into the white cube.
