John Rebennack aka Dr. John was one of the first white musicians to play regularly at R&B sessions in New Orleans and to work as a permanent studio musician for the legendary Ace Records.
His first recordings were with Huey 'Piano' Smith and Frankie Ford. Until 1962, he was active in various bands in New Orleans, then in Los Angeles, and was involved in many productions by other musicians such as Frank Zappa, the Rolling Stones, Phil Spector, Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin.
